Troubleshooting
Why is Google not offering me a verification method?
First, sign in to the Google Account that manages the Google Business Profile, search the business name plus city or “my business,” and open Get verified. Google automatically chooses the methods for each profile. The choice can depend on the business type, public information, region, or business hours, and the owner cannot add a missing option.1 If the screen says “No more ways to verify” or the Get verified screen lists no method, check the profile, eligibility, and ownership before escalating.12 Most postcard codes arrive within 14 days; Google's review after the required steps can take up to 5 business days, although rare reviews may take longer.13 Waiting does not create a method.
First, check whether you found or claimed the right profile
Search Google for the business name plus its city, or search “my business.” If the business is not on Google, add it. If an existing profile is unclaimed, claim it before trying to verify it.1
If the signed-in search shows no profile, follow the add-or-claim path instead of treating the missing result as an eligibility decision. After the profile appears under the right account, open Get verified and record the exact screen text and methods shown.
Is the business eligible for a Google Business Profile?
Google says an eligible business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated business hours. Google lists online-only businesses and businesses using a P.O. box or remote mailbox as ineligible examples. The same guidance permits ATMs, video-rental kiosks, and express mail drop boxes when the profile includes customer contact information for help. Seasonal businesses can qualify when they display permanent signage year-round, and delivery-only food services can qualify under conditions.2
Check which business model matches what customers actually do:
| Business model | What to check | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Storefront | Customers visit the business at the stated location and hours. | Keep the profile tied to the real, staffed location.2 |
| Hybrid | Customers visit the location and the business also serves customers elsewhere. | Represent the storefront and service area accurately.4 |
| Service-area business | The business travels to customers, and customers do not visit the listed address. | Hide the address from customers and use one real central office or location. A virtual office that is not staffed during business hours is not an acceptable service location. A business associated with age-restricted products such as alcohol, cannabis, or weapons cannot use a service-area model without a storefront.24 |
A rented mailing address is not a substitute for the place where the business operates. Correct the business model and address before trying verification again.24
Are you verifying from the owner’s account?
Only the business owner or an authorized representative may verify and manage a Business Profile. An authorized representative needs the owner’s express consent. Google says the representative should, whenever possible, encourage the owner to own the profile, and its guidance says: “Always work directly with the business owner to complete verification.”2
Go to business.google.com/add, enter the business name and address, and select the business. Google then shows “Someone else may manage this Business Profile.” Choose “Request Access.” This ownership path applies to storefront and hybrid businesses when another person controls the verified profile. Google gives the current owner 3 days to respond. If there is no response, a claim option may appear, but the option is not always available.5 Submit the request from the business owner's account, then check the profile again after the response window.
For a service-area business that serves customers at their locations and has no physical shop or office, Google routes the ownership request through the Business Profile help flow instead of the storefront or hybrid “Request Access” path. Select “Transfer ownership of listing.” Open the ownership route from the business owner's account and keep the listing details ready.5
Does the Get verified screen list no method?
The tell is a “No more ways to verify” message, or a Get verified screen with no method to select. The original poster reported this error in the thread. In a July 24, 2024 reply, Yan Gilbert, a Diamond Product Expert in the Google Business Profile Community, described a support option labelled “no way to verify is offered” or something similar.6 Google selects the available methods for the specific profile. The owner cannot switch on Phone, Email, Live video, Mail, or Business video when Google has not displayed that option.13
Use only the method that appears:
| If Google shows | What the method requires | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Phone or SMS | Answer the business phone or receive text messages at the offered number. | Google says an interactive voice-response system will not receive the code.1 |
| Use the email address shown on the verification screen. | Use only the email address Google displays for this verification attempt.1 | |
| Live video call | Join during the location's business hours with a device that supports live video calls. Be at the business and show the location, equipment or tools, and proof that you manage the business during the call. | Google may not offer live video to every business.1 |
| Mail or postcard | Confirm that the profile's mailing address is correct, then request the code. | The code expires after 30 days. Do not request a new code, because that invalidates the code in the mail. Do not edit the business name, address, or category while waiting.1 |
| Business video recording | Record and upload through the Business Profile on a mobile device. Show the location, proof that the business exists, and proof that you manage or represent it. | The recording must be live, unedited, unique, complete, and without breaks. It must be at least 30 seconds long. Do not include sensitive information, private information about people, or other people's faces.3 |
Google's video-recording method works for storefront, service-area, and hybrid businesses when the Business video option appears.3 Prepare the evidence for the business model shown on the profile, then upload it through that profile.
Did Google show “Get verified” again after an attempt?
If the “Get verified” button appears again after an attempt, Google says the business could not be completely verified. Select the button and try the displayed method again, or use another option if Google displays one.1
If the screen says “Give additional info to re-verify,” Google says recently updated business details may require additional information. Follow that prompt and provide the requested evidence before trying another method.1
For an uploaded Business video, select “Review issues” when Google marks the result unsuccessful. Correct every missing item, make a new complete recording, and upload it from the Business Profile on a mobile device.3
What should I do when Google offers no usable method?
Follow this order:
- Find the profile by business name and city. Add it if it is not on Google, or claim it if it is unclaimed.1
- Confirm that the business makes in-person contact with customers during its stated hours and uses a permitted storefront, hybrid, or service-area setup.24
- Sign in as the owner or an authorized representative. If another owner controls the profile, request access or ownership.25
- Try every method that Google actually displays. Match the phone, email, live-video, mail, or Business video requirements to that method.13
- If the displayed options do not allow verification, open Google Business Profile support. Google says to contact support when you are still unable to verify after trying the options shown.1 A July 24, 2024 Product Expert reply reported this support path as: pick the listing, describe the issue as “verify,” and choose the option that says “no way to verify is offered” or something similar. The reply says support should email you with an additional option like live verification.6 Attach the exact screen text and list the methods you already tried.
For the ordinary verification sequence, see how to verify your Google Business Profile. If the profile has not been created or claimed, use the guide to creating your Google Business Profile. Keep the support case details with the profile record while Google reviews the issue.

Common questions
- Can I force Google to offer postcard verification?
- No. Google chooses the methods automatically, and postcard verification is not available for every business. If Mail or Postcard appears, confirm the mailing address, request one code, and leave the business name, address, and category unchanged until you enter it.
- Can I add my phone number or email address to get another verification option?
- Use the phone number or email address Google shows on the verification screen. If no usable method appears, follow the support path in the final step.
- Does a service-area business have to use postcard verification?
- No. Google says methods vary by profile, so a service-area business should use the method Google displays, including Business video when that option appears. A legitimate service-area profile can hide its address from customers, but a rented mailing address is not an operating location. Check the real business location and service-area model before retrying.
- How long should I wait after submitting verification?
- If you are waiting for a postcard, most codes arrive within 14 days. After the required verification steps, Google reviews the information in up to 5 business days, although rare reviews may take longer. Video review also takes up to 5 business days. Check the status shown on the Business Profile and follow the state Google displays instead of submitting the same evidence repeatedly.
