How do Maps Agent and Birdeye differ for a local business?

By Sergey Sulimko, Founder

No contracts. Cancel anytime.1 On 2026-10-05, Birdeye's public pricing flow showed six location bands and a GET PRICING step, but no numeric dollar amount before that step.2 Maps Agent's public pricing page published Autopost, AI Team and Partner on a monthly basis. Every tier is month to month, with no setup or onboarding fee, annual option, credits, add-ons or per-location charge.1 The public scope is also different: Maps Agent describes work on a Google Maps profile,1 while Birdeye describes reviews, listings, social media, customer experience, analytics and multi-location operations.3456

Buyer question Maps Agent says Birdeye says What to decide
How is price shown? Three named monthly tiers: Autopost, AI Team and Partner. The page says every tier is month to month, with no setup or onboarding fee, contract, annual option, credits, add-ons or per-location charge.1 Six location bands, from 1-3 through 1000+ locations, followed by business and contact fields and GET PRICING. No numeric dollar amount appeared in that visible flow.2 Decide whether a public monthly price or a location-based quote is the starting point.
What work is described? Google Maps profile work: scheduled posts, products, Q&A posts and services, description optimization, keyword work and a position-grid report.1 Reviews, listings, social media, customer experience, analytics, feedback and messaging across locations.36 Match the stated scope to the work you actually need.
What listing and location scope is stated? The pricing page describes work on a profile and names what no tier includes.1 Continuous scans, field-level recommendations and execution within the buyer's guardrails; the page says one-click approval is applied across every directory.4 The enterprise page separately names Google, Facebook, Bing and 50+ other sites across hundreds of locations.6 Ask which locations and publisher sites are included in the written offer.
What reporting shape is stated? A public report page and profile views, calls, directions, site visits and search data; AI Team adds a position-grid report on its keywords and competitors.1 Reports with metrics, dimensions, filters and charts that can be saved, exported, scheduled or added to dashboards, with company-wide, regional or location-level views.5 Decide whether you need profile activity and position observations or a wider operational report.
What approval and access controls are stated? The customer controls the manager-role invitation, can remove access at any time, and keeps published work after cancellation. The page says no tier includes an approval workflow.1 The listings FAQ says approval is required by default and that one approval can apply an update across every location it belongs to; the reviews page says responses can post on their own or be held for approval.34 Confirm who approves each change and obtain account, location, directory and offboarding terms in writing.

Should I choose Maps Agent or Birdeye?

Choose based on the work you want to buy, the locations you need to cover and the control you want over publishing. Maps Agent's public page describes a focused Google Maps offer with explicit limits and public monthly tiers.1 Birdeye's public pages describe a wider operating scope across reputation, social media, customer experience, analytics, listings and multi-location management,3456 but the visible pricing flow sends the buyer to GET PRICING.2 For a wider vendor set, use the 2026 local SEO comparison. What does Maps Agent include in its public tiers?

Maps Agent's pricing page describes three tiers that build on one another. The compositions below are the public statements.1

Tier Publicly stated work
Autopost Four scheduled posts with original images each month, one-time business research before the first post, a public report page, and the profile's views, calls, directions, site visits and the searches that found you.1
AI Team Everything in Autopost, plus 100 keywords each month mapped to intent and a specific service, four new Google Products each month, four Q&A posts, four Q&A services, business-description optimization, a position-grid report with competitors, and images matched to the trade and city.1
Partner Everything in AI Team, plus a human team with a personal manager, the customer's own photos instead of generated ones, manual quality control of everything the AI team ships and a meet-your-team call before purchase.1

The page says every tier is month to month and that the listed price is the whole price, with no setup or onboarding fee, contract, annual option, credits, add-ons or per-location charge.1 Autopost leaves the additional AI Team work to the higher tier. AI Team leaves the human team, customer photos, manual quality control and meet-your-team call to Partner. Partner is the highest named tier on the reviewed page.1

The AI Team description says it has no calls and no account manager. The Partner description adds people directing and verifying the work.1

What does Birdeye describe beyond Google Maps profile work?

Birdeye's reviews page says it brings ratings and reviews from every site into one place, tracks ratings, review counts and responses over time for every location, and supports generating, marketing and responding to reviews. It also says review responses can post on their own or be held for approval.3

Its listings page says the Listings Optimization Agent continuously scans and optimizes local listings, gives field-level recommendations, and executes fixes within the buyer's guardrails. It says one-click approval is applied across every directory.4 The page's FAQ adds that every location gets its own scan, recommendations and fix list; approval is required by default, one approval can apply an update across every location it belongs to, and nothing goes live without sign-off.4

Its reports page describes metrics, dimensions, filters and charts that teams can save, export, schedule or add to dashboards. It names company-wide, regional and location-level views and combines Reviews, Listings, Surveys, Social, Inbox, Insights and Contacts.5

Birdeye's enterprise page describes reputation management, social media, customer experience and analytics inside an AI-powered platform. It also describes multi-location visibility in one dashboard for feedback, messaging, listings, reviews and social media, plus listings across Google, Facebook, Bing and 50+ other sites across hundreds of locations.6

How does the public buying path differ?

Maps Agent states that every tier is month to month and that the listed price is the whole price, with no setup or onboarding fee, contract, annual option, credits, add-ons or per-location charge. Cancellation is one button in the account or an email, billing stops at that moment, and there is no notice window. The customer controls the manager-role invitation, published work stays published after cancellation, and access can be removed at any time.1

Birdeye's public pricing page uses a location-count quote flow. It offers six location bands: 1-3, 4-9, 10-39, 40-249, 250-999 and 1000+ locations. The page describes pricing around outcomes rather than seat counts, says it uses one platform and one contract, and says buyers pay only for what they deploy at their locations. The form asks for a business email, company, number of locations, name and mobile number before GET PRICING. It does not show a numeric dollar amount before that step.2

The reviewed Birdeye pages describe approval controls for listing fixes and an automatic-or-approval choice for review responses.34 Ask Birdeye to state the approval default, location and directory coverage, account ownership, access and offboarding terms in the proposal. Google's policy says end customers must retain ownership or co-ownership, can choose Co-Owner, Manager or no access, and must be given within 7 business days of notice a way to disassociate the Google Account used to manage the profile and regain exclusive control. If the third party has permission to manage or change the account, it must also relinquish and remove those permissions. Use those requirements as the access checklist.7

Which work does Maps Agent explicitly exclude?

Maps Agent's pricing page names the following exclusions for every tier:1

  • review management
  • review responses
  • citation building
  • directory listings
  • call tracking
  • social media management
  • website building
  • rank guarantees
  • a live dashboard
  • an approval workflow

Those are explicit boundaries of the Maps Agent offer.1 Birdeye's public pages do describe review, listings and social-media scope,3456 so a buyer should ask Birdeye to state the exact module, location coverage, approval defaults and reporting access in the proposal.

What responsibilities stay with the buyer?

The buyer still has decisions to make under either public description:

  1. Define the required scope. Decide whether the job is focused Google Maps profile work1 or a broader reviews, listings, messaging, social, customer-experience and analytics operation.3456 For a wider explanation of the work itself, read how to choose who does local SEO for you.
  2. Choose the locations, permissions and term. Keep ownership or co-ownership of each Google Business Profile, choose Co-Owner, Manager or no access for the partner, and make sure the written offer names the locations and cancellation route. Google's policy says the third party must provide disassociation of the Google Account used to manage the profile and regain of exclusive control within 7 business days after notice. If it has permission to manage or change the account, it must relinquish and remove those permissions. Use those requirements as the access checklist.7
  3. Supply the inputs and approve what needs approval. That can include business information, photos and operating decisions. Birdeye's listings FAQ says approval is required by default, one approval can apply an update across every location it belongs to, and nothing goes live without your sign-off. Its reviews page separately says review responses can post on their own or be held for approval. Maps Agent's pricing page says its tiers do not include an approval workflow.134 Ask Birdeye to put the approval default, location and directory coverage, and offboarding terms in writing.
  4. Read the reporting and act on it. Maps Agent lists profile activity and, on AI Team, a position-grid report.1 Birdeye describes broader reports across several data areas.5 Google's policy requires Business Profile-specific data to be separately reported from non-Business-Profile data unless the Google-specific data is also easy to access. Geographic performance aggregated across platforms also requires a separate Google Business Profile location performance report and its required fields. A third party must not compare or share one customer's Business Profile-specific data with other customers.7
  5. Set the success measure yourself. Name the metric, reporting window and starting point you will use to judge the work.

What should I check before choosing?

Use these questions in the buying conversation:

  1. Do you need a focused Google Maps profile service, or a broader reputation, listings, social-media, customer-experience and analytics scope?
  2. Do you need a public tier schedule, or are you prepared to request a location-based quote?
  3. Which locations and publisher sites are included in the work?
  4. Will the report show profile activity, position observations, or wider feedback and messaging data?
  5. Which review, listing, social-media and dashboard functions are named in the written proposal?
  6. What are the term, cancellation route, payment basis and offboarding steps?

The answers keep the comparison on the buying facts each page publishes. For an access handoff checklist, read handing a Google Business Profile to a new owner. For a broader choice set, start with the 2026 local SEO comparison.

How was this comparison checked?

The pricing check on 2026-10-05 re-read Birdeye's public pricing page and Maps Agent's public pricing page. It recorded Birdeye's six location bands, pricing language, contact fields, GET PRICING path and whether a numeric amount appeared. It also recorded Maps Agent's three named tiers, monthly billing and cumulative composition.12 The scope check also re-read Birdeye's reviews, listings, reports and enterprise pages, plus Google's third-party policy, to confirm the approval, reporting, multi-location, ownership and profile-access statements.34567

To repeat the check:

  1. Open Birdeye's pricing page as rendered. Use its Number of locations control and record every location band, the pricing language, the requested fields, the GET PRICING path and whether a numeric amount appears before it. Keep those location bands as their own unit; do not turn a quote path into a per-location price.
  2. Read the current Maps Agent pricing page as rendered. Record each named tier, monthly billing period and cumulative scope before updating the dated price record. Keep the Maps Agent tier prices and Birdeye's location bands separate rather than normalizing unlike units.
  3. Re-open Birdeye's reviews page, listings page, reports page, and enterprise page when checking scope. Keep approval, reporting and multi-location statements tied to the page where they appear. Re-open Google's third-party policy when checking ownership, access and offboarding requirements.
  4. Repeat the full check quarterly and sooner if a named vendor changes its public price, plan, billing, location bands or product-scope presentation. Preserve the new read date and each page's displayed wording.
