Troubleshooting

Why are some Google Business Profile performance metrics missing, and what should I check?

Check verification and account access first. Google says Business Profile performance data is available only for a verified profile viewed from the associated Google Account. A missing metric can also be expected when the metric does not apply, when the Searches metric is within its monthly update window of up to 5 days, or when bookings use a custom link, which has no performance data. A blank performance field describes report availability, not a local search position.

First, check your verification and account access

Business Profile performance data requires a verified profile and the Google Account associated with that profile.

Google states both conditions for viewing performance data. Its restrictions guidance also says content associated with an unverified profile might not appear across Google and directs owners to check verification status before an appeal.12 Check those prerequisites before treating one missing card as a metric-specific failure. The Google Business Profile performance metrics guide explains the report's metric names after access is confirmed.

Why is only one performance metric missing?

Google shows only performance metrics that apply to the business, so one missing card can be an applicability boundary rather than a broken report.

Google gives hotel booking clicks as an example of a metric that applies only to hotels. Compare the exact card or field name with the business type and the profile features it actually uses. Do not replace a missing field with an estimate. For the meaning of the metrics that are present, use the guide to reading Google Business Profile performance metrics.1

Why are Google Business Profile search queries missing at the start of the month?

Google updates the Searches metric at the start of each month and says it can take up to 5 days to appear.

The timing applies to the Searches metric and its search-query data. Google says a query appears when the Business Profile appears for that search, and the business cannot directly manage which queries appear.1

Use this sequence:

  1. Confirm that the missing field is Searches or its query list, not a daily action metric.
  2. Record the month and the date on which you checked the report.
  3. Recheck after the 5-day window, using the same profile, account, and date scope.

The five-day window is a reporting update window, not a promise that a particular query will appear. A query's absence does not provide a local ranking position.

Google requires a booking provider for Business Profile booking performance data, and custom links do not have performance data.

Google defines the Bookings metric as completed bookings and says the bookings must be managed through a booking provider for the metric to have data.1 Its booking setup guidance says businesses can find providers available in their country or add their own link. It also says provider links can take up to a week to show on the profile, while custom links have no performance data.3

For example, a business can have a working booking URL on its profile and still see no booking performance value if that URL is a custom link. The first check is the booking path, provider-backed or custom, not whether the URL opens in a browser.

Google separates a single menu or service-list link from up to 10 links per local-link category, and local business links are not available through the Business Profile API or spreadsheet upload.

Google lists booking, reservation, food-order, and shopping-order links as category-based local business links. It says a profile can have one menu or service-list link and up to 10 links per category.4 If a workflow expects an API or spreadsheet to create or expose one of these links, check the profile's current link controls instead. A link-management limit describes how the link is configured; it does not turn a custom link into a source of booking performance data.

Does a missing performance metric prove that my local ranking changed?

No. Business Profile performance reports profile activity, not a local search position.

Google describes performance data as views, searches, clicks, and other customer interactions with a profile on Search and Maps.1 Its separate local-ranking guidance says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and popularity, and that businesses cannot request or pay for a better local ranking.5 Use a separate local search check when the question is where the profile appears. Do not turn a blank performance field into a ranking diagnosis.

What should I do when the metric is still missing?

Record the exact metric and its setup, then repeat the same check after the relevant eligibility or timing condition has been checked.

Record this Why it matters
Exact card or field name Separates a monthly Searches field from a daily action or a business-specific metric.
Profile verification status and signed-in account Confirms the access conditions for performance data.
Business type and profile features Tests whether Google considers the metric applicable.
Report month, date range, and check date Keeps the monthly update window attached to the reading.
Booking provider or custom link Distinguishes a measured booking path from a link that has no performance data.
Owner-facing report or API workflow Separates an interface or link-management boundary from the value being reported.

After recording those details, re-open the report with the associated account and the same date scope. If the field remains absent, describe the exact metric, business type, date window, and provider or link setup when asking Google for help. Do not enter an estimated value, and do not treat the blank as a local ranking result. The Google Business Profile Performance API explanation covers the separate programmatic reporting surface.
