What request and edit limits does Google publish for the Business Profile APIs?
Google's quota page, last updated August 28, 2026, lists 300 queries per minute for default Business Information API requests and several other APIs, 300 queries per day for two Business Information operations, 10,000 queries per day for Update Location, and 10 edits per minute per Google Business Profile. A request that exceeds a quota returns HTTP 429 Too Many Requests, or RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED over gRPC.
What request quotas does Google publish for the Business Profile APIs?
Google calls the following values its standard quota limits. QPM means queries per minute, and QPD means queries per day. The operation-specific Business Information limits stay separate from the API-wide limits.1
| API or operation | Published limit | Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Business Information API, default requests | 300 | QPM |
| Business Information API, Create Location requests | 300 | QPD |
| Business Information API, SearchGoogleLocation requests | 300 | QPD |
| Business Information API, Update Location requests | 10,000 | QPD |
| Account Management API | 300 | QPM |
| Performance API | 300 | QPM |
| Verifications API | 300 | QPM |
| Lodging API | 300 | QPM |
| Place Actions API | 300 | QPM |
| Notifications API | 300 | QPM |
These are request-volume limits for the named API or operation. They are not one shared daily allowance, and the table does not establish a combined total across APIs.
What is the edit limit for one Google Business Profile?
Google publishes a separate limit of 10 edits per minute per Google Business Profile and says that this limit cannot be increased.1 The scope is one individual profile and the window is one minute. It is not an API-wide QPM value and it is not a daily edit allowance.
What do QPM and QPD mean?
Google defines QPM as the limit that caps short-term burst traffic to protect backend stability. Google defines QPD as the limit that manages overall daily platform usage.1 QPM and QPD describe different request windows, so a 300 QPM row cannot be read as 300 requests per day, and a 300 QPD row cannot be read as 300 requests per minute.
The Google Business Profile Performance API is a related but different subject. Its documented methods retrieve performance reports, while the quota table describes how API requests are limited. The Business Profile performance metrics answer explains the owner-facing measurements.
What happens when a request exceeds a quota?
When a request exceeds a quota limit, Google documents 429 Too Many Requests as the HTTP response and RESOURCE_EXHAUSTED as the gRPC equivalent.1 Keep the protocol with the status: these are two representations of the documented quota-exceeded response, not two additional quota categories.
What does a Google Business Profile API quota of 0 mean?
Google says a quota limit of 0 means access has not yet been granted. Google directs the applicant to submit the Application For Basic API Access, not to request a quota increase.12 Google's prerequisites page also describes 0 QPM as an unapproved project and 300 QPM as an approved project.2
Do these quotas measure Business Profile performance?
No. The QPM and QPD values describe API request throughput and Google's protection of short-term or daily platform usage. They do not report a profile's searches, views, calls, website clicks, direction requests, or local-search position. Google documents those performance measurements separately through the Business Profile Performance API reference, which returns daily or monthly metric values.3

Common questions
- Is 10 edits per minute a daily limit?
- No. Google's quota page describes it as 10 edits per minute for each Google Business Profile and says the limit cannot be increased. It is a per-profile, one-minute limit, not a 10-edits-per-day allowance.
- Does 0 QPM mean that Google grants a larger quota after a request?
- No. Google describes 0 QPM as an access-approval state. The documented next step is to submit the Application For Basic API Access rather than use the quota-increase path.
- Can I add the published API limits into one total?
- No. Google lists limits by API or operation and by QPM or QPD. The published table does not provide a combined cross-API total, so adding the rows would create a number Google does not publish.
