Is the Google Business Profile Q&A API still available?
No. Google discontinued the My Business Q&A API on November 3, 2025. Google says clients can no longer read or post questions and answers through that API. Google still documents native Q&A in Google Maps on Android for certain countries and regions, so manual access is separate from API access.
What exactly did Google discontinue?
Google's Q&A API change log says the My Business Q&A API was discontinued on November 3, 2025. The API no longer supports reading or posting questions and answers. The discontinuation applies to the API, not to every native Maps experience Google documents for place questions.
| What an integration or owner needs to do | Status | Supported path described by Google |
|---|---|---|
| Read questions and answers through the API | Discontinued on November 3, 2025 | Do not rely on API reads |
| Post questions or answers through the API | Discontinued on November 3, 2025 | Google separately documents native Maps Q&A where it is available; that is not API access |
| Receive Q&A change notifications | The four Q&A notification types are deprecated | Do not rely on those Q&A notification types |
| Answer questions in Google Maps | Still documented for Android in certain countries and regions | Open Google Maps and use Contribute → Q&A |
The Google Business Profile hub covers the wider profile. This page answers the narrower API-status question.
What happened to Google Business Profile Q&A notifications?
Google's Notification Setting reference marks NEW_QUESTION, UPDATED_QUESTION, NEW_ANSWER, and UPDATED_ANSWER as deprecated because the Q&A API was discontinued. An integration that depends on those four notification types should treat them as retired along with the API rather than as a temporary delivery problem.
How can I answer a Google Maps place question?
Google's Android help for answering questions about a place gives this path, where the feature is available:
- Open Google Maps.
- Tap Contribute.
- If Q&A is not visible, tap and drag the menu bar at the top until Q&A appears.
- Tap Q&A, then scroll through the questions and answers.
Google says this feature is available only in certain countries and regions. The Google Maps Q&A instructions document the Android path and its regional limit.
Where can information from place questions appear?
Google says answers are combined with contributions from other users, business owners, and other sources. Google says the resulting place information can appear on a business's main page, its About tab, and Google Search results. Google also says names and individual answers are not displayed with this new information, and answers can be displayed as statistics.
That description explains why native question handling still matters to a business owner, even though the API no longer handles it. Keep public business facts accurate wherever Google asks for them, and do not treat a past API workflow as evidence that the endpoint is still supported.
What should I change in an integration that used the Q&A API?
Make three changes:
- Remove reads and writes that target the discontinued My Business Q&A API.
- Remove dependencies on
NEW_QUESTION,UPDATED_QUESTION,NEW_ANSWER, andUPDATED_ANSWERas supported Q&A notifications. - For place questions that appear in Google Maps, use Google's documented Android Contribute → Q&A path where that feature is available.
Do not replace a failed API request with an assumed endpoint. Google’s current documentation separates the discontinued API from the native Maps interface.

Common questions
- Does the Q&A API shutdown retire every Business Profile notification?
- No. Google's NotificationSetting reference marks the four Q&A notification types as deprecated, but it separately lists review, customer-media, duplicate-location, and Voice of Merchant notifications. The Q&A shutdown is not a reason to discard every Business Profile Pub/Sub notification.
