How do I know if my Google Business Profile is verified?
The strongest check is to sign in to the Google Account associated with the profile. “Claim this business” is Google’s path for an existing unverified profile. If “Get verified” reappears after an attempt, Google could not completely verify the business. Google sends a confirmation email when the business is verified. Owner or manager access identifies which account can act on the profile, not whether the profile is verified by itself.
How can I check my verification status in Google Search or Maps?
Google’s verification guide says to sign in to the Google Account associated with the profile before checking it. Search for the business name and city, or search for my business, then open the matching Business Profile.
- Sign in to the Google Account associated with the profile.
- Search Google Search for the business name and city, or
my business. You can also search the business name and city in Google Maps. - Open the matching Business Profile.
- Read the owner-view action Google shows. Claim this business, Get verified, or a reappearing Get verified button each points to a different next step.
For the verification methods Google offers, see how to verify your Google Business Profile. The available method is chosen by Google and cannot be changed manually.
What does each Google Business Profile signal mean?
These owner-view signals map the status you are most likely seeing to the action Google provides. The public-result row is separate because visibility does not settle the owner-side status.
| What you see | Most likely state | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Claim this business, followed by Manage now | An existing profile is unverified | Select Claim this business, then Manage now, choose a verification option, and follow Google’s instructions. |
| Get verified on the profile | Verification has not been completed | Select Get verified and use one of the methods Google offers. |
| Get verified appears again after an attempt | Google could not completely verify the business | Try to verify again. If Google offers more than one method, try another available method. |
| The signed-in account can manage the profile, with no Get verified control | The account has authorized management access; the profile is likely verified, but access alone is not proof | Check Google’s confirmation email and the signed-in profile controls. |
| The business appears in Google Search or Maps | Google displays the business information, but the public result does not identify which signed-in account owns or manages the profile | Sign in and check the profile controls rather than using the public result to identify account access or verification status. |
Google’s claim guidance specifically covers an existing unverified profile. Google’s verification guidance says that a reappearing Get verified button means Google could not completely verify the business.
Does a public Google Maps listing prove that the profile is verified?
Not on its own. Google’s guide to finding a business says only verified businesses can show their business information, while Google’s claim guide describes the separate path for an existing unverified profile. A public result does not identify which signed-in account owns or manages the profile. Sign in and check the owner-view controls for your status.
What is the difference between verification, ownership, and management access?
Verification is the business-status step Google requires before the account can edit all business information and interact with customers. Google says completing verification gives the user ownership of the Business Profile. Ownership and management access identify which account can act on the profile, but access alone does not prove that the profile is verified. Use the signed-in controls and Google’s confirmation email to check verification.
If Google says the profile is already verified and you are authorized to manage the business, Google directs you to request ownership from the current profile owner instead of claiming it as unverified. Google also says a third party can be added to help manage a profile after verification. The Google Business Profile access guide explains the account and role distinction.
What does a pending edit mean for my verification status?
Pending describes an edit under review, not a separate verification result. Google lists three edit outcomes:
- Accepted means the updated information displays on the profile.
- Not approved means Google might not approve the change when it cannot confirm its accuracy.
- Pending means the edit is still under review. Google says this usually takes 10 minutes, but it can sometimes take up to 30 days.
Google’s edit-status guidance says an unverified profile can still edit some information, but verification is required to edit all information. Check the profile’s Get verified or Claim this business control separately from the edit status. The answer on what you can edit on an unverified Google Business Profile covers those field limits.
What if the profile is missing or suspended?
An absent public result does not, by itself, tell you whether the profile is unverified, restricted, or suspended. Google says a suspended business receives a notification in the Google Account used to manage the profile, and a profile that violates its guidelines may not show to other users until the issue is resolved.
If Google shows a restriction or suspension notice, check the account notification and the displayed profile status. Before appealing a content or profile restriction, Google says to check the verification status because unverified profile content might not appear across Google. The answer about a soft Google Business Profile suspension explains the practitioner term and the Google statuses behind it.
How long does Google take to confirm verification?
Google says verification reviews take up to 5 business days after the verification steps are complete, although rare reviews may take longer. Google sends a confirmation email when the business is verified. Some profiles may be verified instantly through website verification in Google Search Console or through bulk verification.
If Google offers postcard verification, most codes arrive within 14 days and expire after 30 days. Do not change the business name, address, or category while waiting, and do not request a new code, because Google says those actions can invalidate the mailed code or make the process longer.
