Google's Help pages use the plural Business Profile photos and do not define the exact singular phrase as a separate product label. This entry uses the singular as an explanatory umbrella term.1 Google's owner-added photo categories are distinct:
| Photo type | What it means |
|---|---|
| Logo | Helps customers recognize the business on Google.2 |
| Cover photo | Represents the business at the top of the profile. Selecting one does not guarantee that it will appear as the first image.2 |
| Business photos | Highlight features of the business. Google gives exterior, interior, product, and photos-at-work examples, among others.2,3 |
Google lists these upload statuses for photo or video media:2
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | The media is uploading or processing, or the profile is not verified. It does not show to customers on Google Search or Maps. |
| Not approved | Google flagged the media for violating policies. It does not show to customers on Google Search or Maps. |
| Live | The media shows on Google Search and Maps for customers. |
Google says a Business Profile must be verified before its photos and videos show on Google. Google also says display can take up to 24–48 hours.2 Treat that as a display window, not an approval promise. These labels describe media upload, policy, and display states, not ranking position or performance.
Google's Business Profile media policy says its prohibited and restricted content policies apply to submitted or published photos and videos. It also says that additional photo and video criteria and applicable laws and regulations apply.4 A Not approved label identifies a policy outcome, but the label alone does not name the specific issue.2 Use Google's current policy guidance when diagnosing it.4
This entry uses photo for a still image; Google documents video separately in the same Help page.2 It also does not describe who manages the profile. A customer-uploaded photo can appear through a separate contributor path; a business can request removal when that content violates Google's policies, but Google reviews the request and may remove it.5 For wider Google Business Profile context, the upload procedure, and status checks, see publishing photos and posts on your Google Business Profile and Google Business Profile photos not showing. The narrower Google Business Profile cover photo entry defines that category on its own.2
The documented category and status labels come from Google. Google does not name the exact singular phrase Business Profile photo as a separate product term in the cited Help pages; this umbrella definition is Maps Agent's, written against Google's documentation.1
