Google's own help calls the underlying feature local results and says they can appear on Google Search and Google Maps.2 Public local-search references use Google Local Finder for the expanded Search view reached from the Local Pack.1,3 Local Finder is not the Google Business Profile record a business manages.1,4,5,3
For a query such as “handyman near me,” the compact local-results block is the Google map pack.1,3 Opening more results takes the searcher into the Local Finder list.1 Starting a place search in Google Maps is different: Maps is the broader, map-first place-search experience, even when a Local Finder view also includes a map.6,3
