Troubleshooting

Why is my Google Business Profile booking link not showing?

By Sergey Sulimko, Founder10 min read

First check the live Business Profile while signed out, then identify which link is missing: a business-added Booking link, a connected provider link, or an automatically supplied third-party link. Google says a selected booking provider will show on the Business Profile within a week, while a provider needs to remove a third-party link within 5 days after receiving a removal request.12 These are different diagnostic branches.

Google separates the owner view from the customer view. Its Business Profile guidance says a verified profile is needed to make changes and recommends private browsing or Google Maps to see how other people view the profile.3

Check What the result tells you Next check
Open the profile signed out or in a private window Whether the booking action is visible to customers, rather than only in the editing view Record whether the action says Booking or Bookings, and whether a provider name appears.
Open the same profile while signed in Whether the business account can reach the profile's editing controls If the account cannot reach the profile, follow the Google Business Profile access guide.
Compare the exact business name, address or service area, phone, and website Whether you are viewing the intended profile and whether provider data could refer to a different listing Continue to the matching check if the link comes from a provider.

If the link is visible only to the owner, do not assume that private browsing will restore it. Use the public result to choose the next branch, then check verification, provider setup, matching, or eligibility.

A manually added link and a provider-supplied link are separate Business Profile features. Google’s local-link help distinguishes links that the business adds from third-party links that can appear automatically.1

What you remember doing Branch to use
You selected Booking, Add link, or Add another link and entered a URL Check the business-added link branch below.
You selected Bookings, Get started, a provider, and Done Check the provider wait and provider eligibility branches.
A provider link appeared without you adding its URL Check provider matching, eligibility, or the removal branch.

For the complete setup paths, use the guide to setting up online booking on a Google Business Profile. This page focuses on what to check when the expected action is absent.

Google’s local-link help says the Business Profile can include links for actions such as booking an appointment, and that the business can add up to 10 links per category.1 Google’s separate Business links policies say businesses can have a maximum of 20 links per transaction type.4 Those pages state different limits in different terms, so use the current profile UI to see whether the Booking transaction type has reached its limit rather than treating either number as universal.

If Booking or Add link is missing, check the profile’s verification and the action’s eligibility before changing the URL. If the URL was saved but the link is not rendered on the public profile, check the saved link against Google’s Business links policies:

  • The profile must be verified and the link edit approved. The URL must be a valid direct link to a dedicated page for that business or location where the customer can complete the designated action.
  • A social-media, messaging, app-store, or shortened URL is not allowed. A duplicate link or a domain already used by the business or a provider can also prevent the link from being accepted.
  • Google’s verification crawlers must be able to access the link. Check for bot blocking, rate limiting, CAPTCHA, login requirements, IP blocking, content shown differently to crawlers, and a URL that does not resolve to a successful page.

This saved-but-hidden branch is different from an absent Booking or Add link control. The control points to profile access or feature eligibility; a saved link that is not rendered points first to approval, policy, conflict, or crawlability checks.

Google’s documented path is:

  1. Open the Business Profile in Google Search or Google Maps.
  2. In Search, select Booking. In Maps, select Edit profile and the relevant transaction type.
  3. Select Add link or Add another link, enter the URL, and select Save.1

The local-link help also says these links are not available through the Business Profile API or spreadsheet upload.1 If the link was sent through one of those routes, use the Business Profile controls instead. After saving, check the profile signed out so you test the customer view.

Has a connected booking provider had one week to appear?

Google’s provider help says to select Bookings, Get started, the provider, and Done. It then says, “Your booking providers will show up on your Business Profile within a week.”2

Use this sequence:

  1. Confirm that the provider connection was completed in the Bookings area.
  2. Count one week from that setup, rather than from the first time you searched for the profile.
  3. If the week has not elapsed, wait for that stated display window and recheck the public profile.
  4. If the provider is still absent after the window, check provider availability, matching, and eligibility.

Google also says that a business without a booking-management provider can find providers available in its country through Reserve with Google or add its own link.2 A provider not appearing in the selection is therefore a provider-availability or eligibility question, not evidence that a manually added link is broken.

Does the provider match the right Google Maps listing?

For an Appointments Redirect integration, Google sends the customer from Search or Maps to the appointment provider’s landing page. Google’s matching guidance says the provider’s merchant data should match the business name, address, and business category.56

Ask the provider or integration partner to check these fields against the intended Maps listing:

Match check Why it matters
Business name Minor differences can affect the match.
Address, including suite or apartment details where relevant Google says businesses sharing an address have a higher likelihood of an improper match.
Business category The category is part of Google’s matching guidance.
Merchant URL, telephone, street-level address, and correct Maps URL Google lists these as correction data for an unmatched merchant.

Google says an insufficient or bad match can lead to the merchant being removed from Actions Center inventory.6 For a service-area business, the same guidance describes a separate provider-side path: the active profile must be configured as a service-area business, the office address must be supplied in the provider’s feed even though it is not shown publicly, automatic matching is unavailable, and the partner must use manual matching in the Actions Center Partner Portal.6

This is a provider or integration check, not a setting that a local business fixes by adding a second Business Profile. Keep the Google Business Profile access guide for account access problems, and use the provider for its inventory and matching record.

Google’s Appointments Redirect policy says the business must match one in Google Maps and the service must be bookable by the general public.7 The policy also limits supported merchant types and countries. Google says its supported-country list is not exhaustive and can change, so country support is only one check, not the whole eligibility decision.7

Check the following before treating a missing provider link as a technical failure:

  • The provider’s record matches the real business in Google Maps.
  • The appointment service is available to the general public, not only to members or an organization.
  • The business category and country are covered by the provider’s current integration. Check the provider’s current country and merchant-type information because Google says the supported lists can change.
  • Country support alone does not establish eligibility. The Maps match, a supported merchant type, and a service bookable by the general public still apply.

The policy page lists the United States among supported countries, but it still requires a valid Maps match and a publicly bookable service.7 A US business can therefore pass the country check and still need a provider-side matching or eligibility correction.

Google says third-party links can appear automatically on a Business Profile. If the link should be removed, Google documents separate paths for Search and Maps: in Search, select Booking, then Remove Provider; in Maps, select Edit profile, Booking, then Remove Provider.1

Google says the provider needs to remove the third-party link within 5 days after receiving the removal request.1 That is a provider response period, not a promise that every link disappears immediately when the request is submitted.

If the action opens the wrong provider page, or a provider link disappeared without a manual removal request, ask the provider to check its matching and inventory record. The Appointments Redirect overview describes the action as a redirect from Google Search or Maps to the provider’s landing page, so this branch belongs to the provider-side connection rather than to the URL you would add manually.5

Keep a short record before contacting the provider or changing the profile:

  1. The public profile URL and the exact business name.
  2. Whether you checked signed in, signed out, or in a private window.
  3. Whether the missing action is Booking or Bookings.
  4. The provider name, setup date, and any removal-request date.
  5. The business name, address or service area, category, phone, and website shown in the provider record.

Match the wait to the branch you can observe:

Branch Documented timing
Selected booking provider Google says the provider will show within one week.2
Third-party provider removal Google says the provider needs to remove the link within 5 days after receiving the request.1

If the provider still cannot locate the right listing after the relevant window, give the provider the correction data Google names: the accurate business name, merchant URL, telephone, category, street-level address, and correct Maps URL. Google’s matching guidance says a partner can open an Actions Center case with the partner and merchant identifiers and the correct Maps URL.6

No. The supplied Google help URL currently leads to Manage online ordering options, which covers food ordering. Use the booking-link and provider-help pages for appointment-link checks.8

No. Google says a business without a booking-management provider can find an available provider through Reserve with Google or add its own link to the Business Profile.2

Why does the provider wait differ from the removal wait?

They describe different events. Google says, “Your booking providers will show up on your Business Profile within a week,” while providers need to remove third-party links within 5 days of receiving a removal request.12
