Google Business Profile hours and Special-hours annual calendar
Use this annual record to separate normal weekly hours, date-specific Special hours, whole-profile temporary closures or reopening, the owner-approved source for each decision, the planned effective date, and the checks completed after saving. Google reviews edits to a verified Business Profile before updating them on Google Maps and Search, so a saved row needs an edit status and public check, not just a planned date.1,2

This record keeps the owner's operating decision beside the Google edit. It is a planning and verification sheet, not a Google-required spreadsheet layout. Google documents main hours, Special hours, temporary closure, and reopening as different profile actions.3,4,5,6
Copy a Special-hours row
Special-hours row
Business: [business name]
Date: [YYYY-MM-DD]
Reason: [holiday / special event / other exceptional circumstance]
Regular hours left unchanged: [yes]
Special hours: [open from [time] to [time] / Closed]
Additional period, if needed: [from [time] to [time] / N/A]
Google path used:
Edit profile > Hours > Special hours > EditSaved on: [YYYY-MM-DD]
Owner-side row found in: [Hours tab in Business information / Edit profile > Special hours]
Edit status: [Accepted / Pending / Not approved]
Public Search check: [result or note]
Public Maps check: [result or note]
Checked on: [YYYY-MM-DD]
Use this row when a business temporarily changes its hours for a holiday, special event, or other exceptional circumstance. For a closed day, keep Closed checked; for multiple periods, use More > Add hours +, then select Save.4
Google's Special-hours page describes a closure of up to 6 consecutive days, while its closure page describes Special hours for 7 days or less. Keep an exactly-seven-day closure as a separate decision state in the calendar and check both current instructions before editing that row.3,4,5
Copy a closure or reopening row
Whole-profile closure or reopening row
Business: [business name]
Row type: [Temporary closure / Reopening]
Start date: [YYYY-MM-DD]
End date or duration: [YYYY-MM-DD / unknown / indefinite]
Closure classification: [more than 7 days / off-season / indefinite / unknown duration / exactly 7 days, current guidance checked]
Action taken: [Temporarily closed / Open with main hours]
Google path used:
Edit profile > Hours > Edit > Temporarily closedorEdit profile > Hours > Edit > Open with main hoursMain hours to restore, if reopening: [open days and times]
Source of truth: [closure notice or reopening decision]
Planned effective or publication date: [YYYY-MM-DD]
Saved on: [YYYY-MM-DD]
Edit status: [Accepted / Pending / Not approved]
Public Search check: [result or note]
Public Maps check: [result or note]
Checked on: [YYYY-MM-DD]
Use a whole-profile closure row for a closure longer than 7 days, an off-season, or an indefinite closure. When the business reopens, record the Open with main hours action and the main hours that were restored. Google's current pages give different boundaries for exactly 7 days, so the calendar keeps that case visible instead of assigning it a settled category.5,6
Which hours row should I use?
| Business situation | Calendar row | Record or action |
|---|---|---|
| The normal schedule for a week | Normal week | Record open days, times, split periods, or 24 hours. Use Edit profile > Hours > Edit > Open with main hours, then select Save.3 |
| A holiday, special event, or other short exception | Special date | Record date-specific open times or Closed without changing the normal week. Use the Special-hours editor.4 |
| A closure of up to 6 consecutive days | Special date | Record the closed dates as Special hours and keep the exact dates in the row.3,4 |
| A closure longer than 7 days, an off-season, or an indefinite closure | Temporary closure | Record the whole-profile Temporarily closed action.5 |
| An unknown-duration closure | Temporary closure | Record unknown duration and the Temporarily closed action.4,5 |
| A closure of exactly 7 consecutive days | Decision state | Record exactly 7 days, link both current Google instructions, and confirm the applicable instruction when the edit is made.4,5 |
| The business has reopened | Reopening | Use Open with main hours, select the open days, set the main hours, save, and verify the public profile.6 |
The planned effective or publication date is an owner field. It says when the business intends the change to apply. It does not prove that Google has displayed the change publicly.2
How do I save and verify each row?
- Choose the row type from the operating decision. Keep normal weekly hours, Special hours, temporary closure, and reopening as separate records.
- Open the matching Google path. Use
Edit profile > Hoursfor main hours,Special hoursfor date-specific exceptions, or the temporary-closure and reopening controls for whole-profile status.3,4,5,6 - Save the edit and record
Saved on. The save date is the date the edit was submitted, not the date the public profile necessarily changed. - Record the edit status.
Acceptedmeans the updated information displays on the Business Profile.Pendingmeans the edit is still under review. Not approvedmeans Google might not approve the change if it cannot confirm its accuracy, and an appeal may be available.2 - Check both public surfaces. Record the Search result, the Maps result, and
Checked onseparately. Also record whether the saved Special-hours row appears in the owner-sideHourstab or underEdit profile > Special hours.4,2
Google says edits usually take up to 10 minutes to review, but a review can sometimes take up to 30 days. Keep a row marked Pending until the status and public checks are updated.2
How should I use this with other hours checklists?
Use the Google Business Profile holiday-hours checklist when you need a holiday-specific review, the Google Business Profile opening-date checklist when the business is preparing to open, and the monthly Google Business Profile routine for recurring profile checks. This annual calendar keeps the hours decisions and their verification history together.
