Google Business Profile post
A Google Business Profile post is content published on a Business Profile to share an announcement, offer, update, or event detail with customers on Google Search and Maps. It can contain text, a photo, or a video.1
A post is a customer-facing content item, not the wider Business Profile itself. Google's Business Profile Help defines the product term. The Google Business Profile page covers the wider record, while the longer guide to publishing photos and posts on a Google Business Profile covers the full creation, scheduling, and troubleshooting workflow.
Google documents three post types: Update shares business information and can include a description, photo, video, and action button with a link; Offer promotes a sale or deal and requires a title, dates, and time, with a View Offer button added automatically; Event promotes an event and requires a title, start and end dates, and times. If an Event omits a start or end time, Google shows it as lasting 24 hours on the event dates.1
For example, a business could use an Update to announce extended hours, an Offer to present a sale, or an Event to promote a workshop. To create one, open the Business Profile, select Posts, choose Add post, select the type, add the available information, and select Post. Google also offers optional Schedule this post and Repeats controls.1 Use the longer publishing guide for the full workflow.
A post can appear in the Updates or Overview tabs on mobile Search and Maps, in From the owner on computer Search and Maps, or as a featured post on mobile. Google says the featured-post feature is currently available in English for single-location food and drink businesses in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. When available, featured posts can appear in place of reviews on mobile, while reviews remain accessible through the star rating or Reviews tab.1
Google's status boundary is: Live is public on Search and Maps; Pending is not shown while uploading, processing, or when the profile is unverified; Not approved is not shown and its question mark identifies the violated content policy. Posts older than 6 months are archived unless a date range is set.1
A post does not bypass Google's content rules. Google may remove posts with unverified phone numbers, email addresses, or social media handles, and a Call now button uses the verified Business Profile phone number instead. Hotels can create local posts for relevant, timely information, but cannot create Offer posts or mention or link to deals, promotions, special offers, or discounts in any post.2 The person who publishes remains responsible for applicable laws and regulations, and Google says it may modify the policy.2
