Hard suspension
Definition
In this glossary, a hard suspension is a trade label for a Google Business Profile in Google's Suspended state: the profile or account violated Google's policies, the public cannot access it, and owners or managers can still edit it and appeal for reinstatement.1

Google's reviewed help pages do not use hard suspension as a named status. Google uses Suspended, Disabled, removed, and account restriction; this entry uses hard suspension as trade shorthand for the first of those labels, not as a Google product term.1,2
The Google Business Profile glossary entry defines the profile record itself.
The labels describe different problems and different next steps:
| Situation | What changes | Reinstatement or appeal path |
|---|---|---|
Suspended profile | The public cannot access the profile, but owners and managers can still edit it and appeal. | Appeal the affected profile through Google's appeals tool.1,2 |
Disabled profile | Google lists this separately and ties it to quality violations. | Confirm the profile follows Google's guidelines and includes the required information, then request reinstatement.1,2 |
| Removed profile | The public cannot open it, and owners and managers cannot act on it. | Ask Google to reinstate the removed profile. This is not the same state as Suspended.2 |
| Account restriction | The profiles managed by the restricted account are suspended, and that account cannot create or claim other profiles. | Appeal the account restriction at My accounts first, then appeal the affected profile.2 |
A review restriction, rejected edit, or restricted media is narrower than a profile suspension. Google says a suspended or disabled profile must be reinstated before its content decisions can be appealed. The appeal route also depends on location: outside the UK and European Economic Area, profile suspensions use the appeals tool while rejected edits, restricted media, and other content restrictions use Contact us; Google lists a different route for some of those decisions in the UK and EEA.3,4
The owner or an authorized representative should check the profile's eligibility and policy compliance, choose the exact profile and decision in the applicable appeal flow, and attach evidence whose business name and address match the profile. Google says not to create a replacement profile or submit multiple appeals for the same issue before a decision. Appeal reviews and decisions can take up to 5 business days.2,3 Only the business owner or an authorized representative may verify and manage business information; an authorized representative needs the owner's express consent.5 The Google Business Profile recovery guide covers the full decision tree.
For example, one location that disappears publicly while an owner can still edit it fits Google's Suspended description. If every profile managed by one account is suspended and that account cannot create or claim another profile, check the account-restriction path before filing profile appeals.1,2
