Apple's current documentation calls the broader offering Apple Business. It combines capabilities previously found in Apple Business Manager, Apple Business Essentials, and Apple Business Connect, so Apple Business covers more than the local place-card workflow alone.1
For a local business, the control surface is the location record attached to an Apple place card. Apple says each location belongs to a brand, brand information can cascade to associated locations, and locations can still be managed separately.3
| Apple place-card area | What a business can maintain |
|---|---|
| Identity and description | Display name, an “about” description, logo, and cover photo. The display name should match the storefront or website and cannot contain descriptions or other strings.2 |
| Location details | Address, building-centered coordinates, normal and special hours, service hours for listed services, temporary hours, and open-or-closed status.2 |
| Contact and web | A location phone number with its country code, the primary brand website, actions, and app information.2 |
| Categories and attributes | One primary category, up to 19 optional categories, and “Good to Know” attributes.2 |
| Media and promotions | Photos and location-specific showcases for items, deals, sales, or other promotional content.2 |
For Google Search and Maps, maintain a separate Google Business Profile: Google documents an add-or-claim-and-verify path for controlling how business information appears on Google's surfaces.4 Google separately documents fields such as name, address or service area, phone, website, hours, category, and description.5
Keep the records as separate platform-specific tasks: update Apple Business for Apple's place cards, and add, claim, verify, and maintain Google Business Profile for Google Search and Maps.2,4,5 For the related local-search question, see Does Apple Business Connect change local search visibility?. The Siri-specific question is covered in What does Siri use for local business information?.
